Bocking v Little Baddow Cricket Club Sunday NECL XI on Sun 15 Jul 2007 at 2.00pm
Little Baddow Cricket Club Won 4 wickets
With a wicket that looked to have some false patches even though it appeared flat and dry, Little Baddow elected to bowl first and the very first ball from Glen popped to confirm the skipper's wise decision. A wicket each for Glen and Andy early on and the difficult batting conditions kept Bocking to under 2 an over until McIntyre opened up a bit but he fell for 45 to a smart catch by Chris H from Stuart Bucknell's second over. Stuart got a second and our fourth with about 60 on the board in the 24th over but the best was yet to come.
Leo Willan has consistently bowled well with no luck all season and was still to get his first wicket for the club when he came on for the 26th over. The elusive wicket came in that over and the floodgates then opened with him finishing off the opposition with Chris chipping in with one. Leo's final figures 5 overs, 3 maidens, 5 wickets for 4 runs. Well done that man!
With just 80 as a target we gave Alex the opportunity to open with Chris Tuttlebee and he looked confident and played some nice shots before another "popper" gave cover an easy catch. Chris and James Stevens then took us to within striking distance taking the score to 52 before Chris went for 31. Despite a few hiccoughs along the way, we reached the target with 4 wickets to spare.
