Little Baddow Cricket Club Sunday NECL XI v Kirby on Sun 29 Apr 2007 at 1.00pm
Little Baddow Cricket Club Won 6 wickets
Andy lost the toss and the opposition elected to bat as they only had nine and were hopeful the others were en route (they failed to materialise). Stuart Robinson soon had their no.1 to a catch behind by Tom Smith. Although he also had the no. 3 to a catch by Alex Jenkins, the other opener , M Lucas, was a man in a hurry and proceeded to reach his 50 during the 11th over. However, he skied one to Chris Harmer off Glen's bowling in the 12th over at which stage they were 81-3.
The brakes were put on thereafter with Chris in particular starting with 3 maidens before going on to bowl 7-4-2-17. The no. 5 D Woods, held the remainder of the innings together with an unbeaten 54 but wickets fell steadily at the other end and the eigth and final wicket fell at 167 in the 35th over.
The target always looked attainable with Andy opening the innings and so it proved. Although we lost 4 wickets along the way, a useful 20 from Alex Franklin and an unbeaten 21 from Stuart Robinson supported the stand in skipper who sealed the win with a boundary that took him past the century mark.
Two wins from two augurs well for our attempt at a third consecutive promotion and league title if the opposition are to be typical of what we are likely to face.
