Little Baddow Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v South Woodham Ferrers II on Sat 26 Aug 2006 at 1.00pm
Little Baddow Cricket Club Won 17 Runs
The Edge loses the toss and the Baddow opening partnership trudge out to open the innings on a game looking wicket at the Chase. The Welshman hits the first ball of the innings for 4 but Big Dog goes early as he pops up a catch to square leg and then runs are generally hard to come by. The Edge puts one up in the air, Franko fails to adapt to the difficult conditions and the Chef also goes cheaply to leave us precariously placed at 34-4. Enter LBCC's 3rd best overseas player to put on a superb stand of 100 with the gritty Welshman. Both the Welshman & The South African are resolute in defence but are quick to latch on the bad balls, Ross eventually falls just 2 runs short of his maiden League 50 and Keith signs off the year with his 3rd half century of the season. Chunky & the Predator guide us to a total of 189 from our 45 overs.
The Edge takes the first wicket of the SWF innings to remove their opener/rabbit, Glenda responds with one of his own and then the Edge takes another to have SWF in trouble early on, but runs come at a fairly steady rate as we bowl at least one 4 ball per over. Things start to look a bit sticky but the introduction of the South African turns the game Baddow's way, he caps off a superb man of the match display with 3 good wickets. The Predator chips in with one of his own and then the Edge returns to close out the innings with his third.
A solid if unspectacular win which due to results elsewhere guarantees us third place in Div 5.
