South Weald II v Little Baddow Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 15 Jul 2006 at 1.30pm
Little Baddow Cricket Club Won 7 Wickets
Another red hot day and Baddow are able to field what, on paper, looks to be their strongest side of the season.
As per usual we get first use of the new red cherry. The Windmill strikes early with a regulation catch to Big Dog at slip and then goes on to take another 2 wickets from good catches, firstly from the middle Bucknell at point and the next a superb one handed diving snaffle from AT. The Windmill finishes with his best figures of the season but needs to work on his radar for next week. Glenda also takes 3 wickets from his 12 economical overs and the Welshman pulls off a good run out to leave the visitors struggling. From there the Baddow boys appear to flag in the heat as a couple of catches go down and the youngsters struggle to cope with the undulations of the South Weald pitch, time for experience to finish off the oppo methinks. Blaydesy comes on to take a couple of wickets and the Edge closes the innings out.
Against some tight opening bowling on a sluggish pitch the Welshman & Big Dog struggle to find their best form. The Welshman nicks one to the keeper, junior Tutts is then cleaned up and Big Dog top edges a pull to square leg to give the oppo some hope, time for some more experience methinks. The Edge & Blaydesy come together for the second time in the match to see us through to a comfortable victory with plenty of overs to spare. The Edge plays nicely off his legs to finish 28 not out and Blaydesy powers his way to 34 not out.
Can we play you every week?
