A blustery. gloomy day, though thankfully the promised rain didn't arrive.
Against a weakened Brookweald team with only 9 players, we batted first and got away to a good start. Vosey and Brad put on 171 for the first wicket in 22 overs. Both reached 40 at about the same time, but then Brad accelerated aggressively but unfortunately picked out a fielder at long on for an excellent 94. Vosey continued steadily and scored his maiden century before falling in the 39th over for 117. With everyone contributing a few quick runs, particularly young Rob who played some superb cover drives in his undefeated 23, the innings rattled along and closed at 345 for 6 after 45 overs. The visitors cause was not helped when they lost a fielder with a leg injury half way through the innings.
In reply, Stuart clean bowled the opener in his first over, but then P Rawlings and C Miller batted aggressively to push the scoring rate along at around 6 an over until Winston bowled Rawlins for 45. Miller went on to complete his hundred but with no-one else offering much support, the scoring rate fell away. Miller was 6th out for 104 and the 7th wicket fell shortly afterwards with the total at 192. With the injured player unable to bat, the 9 man visitors were therefore all out.
