Despite a damp, green wicket and slow outfield, our home demolition of the league's bottom team meant that batting first was on the agenda. However, not for the first time, the toss was lost and Cressing elected to bat first again.
As has been the case most weeks, all the bowlers contributed to the wicket haul. Ross was particularly tight with the new ball and was unfortunate to only get one wicket. Apart from the odd low one and a few that gripped the surface and lifted the wicket played better than it looked. With the exception of the Cressing skipper Dellar who scored 80 of their runs no one else really threatened to get a score. Highlights were a direct hit run out from Adam Harris and a catch each by the Harmer "brothers", the younger taking a skier at long off to see off Dellar and the elder a one handed diving catch at slip.
Although the opposition seemed to get more out of the wicket with plenty of lift, the pace of the same gave the batsman time to adjust. With the skipper and Rob Tuttlebee taking the score to 64 without loss in 11 overs, a full pitched delivery to the toe gave the skipper the opportunately to hobble off and give some of the youngsters the chance to get involved and they duly took us to victory with Adam Harris hitting some fine shots to be unbeaten on 27 and Jamie Greenwood 17.
With four games left and our nearest rivals all losing last week, the title is very much in our own hands.
