Little Baddow Cricket Club Sunday NECL XI v Wormingford on Sun 16 Apr 2006 at 1.00pm
Little Baddow Cricket Club Won 106 runs
A maiden half century in adult cricket for Duncan Bucknell, the bowling of young Chris Harmer and a good all round contribution from Mickey Lawrence were the highlights of a winning start for new skipper Steve Harmer.
Despite the early loss of Peter Marshall (for whom mid-April and 1pm starts are probably both too early!) a soild foundation was built by the Bucknells before Dad perished for 39 with the score on 90. The score progressed steadily before Duncan was out for 59 in the 34th over with 166 on the board. With wickets in hand, mayhem ensued with Mickey Lawrence in particular striking the ball very hard to finish undefeated on 51, ably supported by Jamie Greenwood. The innings closed at 250 for 8.
The visitors got away to a flying start and the first fifty came up in just the 8th over, with J Shave looking very dangerous. The introduction of Mickey helped to slow the scoring rate and he picked up a couple of wickets, but the hundred was still reached in the 20th over with 3 wickets down. Ross bowled well and was unlucky to pick up just a solitary wicket in his 10 overs, but when he was replaced by young Chris Harmer the game turned. In his second over, he surprised the opposition skipper J Shave and bowled him for 62, and from a handily placed 119 for 3 the visitors collapsed to 144 all out in the 30th over. Chris finished with 4 for 7 from 5 overs.
