Ardleigh II v Little Baddow Cricket Club Sunday NECL XI on Sun 08 May 2005 at 2pm
Little Baddow Cricket Club Won 5 wickets
A damp afternoon with the start delayed briefly by a heavy shower.
The wicket was a little lively early on and several of the home batsmen took blows to the hands and body during the lively opening spells by Ross Plenderleith and Matt Beardall. Runs came slowly and wickets fell regularly, particularly to the deceptive medium pace of Chris Harmer (3 for 20) and the variety (!!) of Mark Cousins (2-14), making a rare appearance in the brief period between the end of the football season and pre-season training for the next one! Ardleigh were dismissed for 99 in the 41st over.
Our innings started poorly, with Stuart Robinson falling victim to a run out at the non-strikers end whilst backing up, and several others missing straight deliveries to leave us at 29 for 5.
James Stevens (41 not out), mixing solid defence with powerful hitting, and Andy (playing for his average) Harris (31 not out) saw us home without further alarm.
