Two games in the first weekend and a very different side, though still with 6 colts.
Batting first, the score moved along at a good rate but wickets fell regularly and we were all out for 218 in the 40th over. Stuart Robinson made 51, Matt Beardall 44 and Oliver Walker 30.
Copford made a slow start and out of the game at 129 for 7 in the 33rd over, but the extra overs made a crucial difference and number 6 D Hunn found good support from the tail to score the winning run off the 5th ball of the 49th over. Again, it was the youngsters who performed well with the ball, notably Matt Beardall with 3 for 19 in 10 overs.
On reflection, the game was lost by 2 people who should have known better! Vice Captain Andy Harris for running out Matt Stevens with 5 overs to go and Captain Paul Jackson for bowling himself, thinking the game was already won!
