Little Baddow Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v Old Chelmsfordians II on Sat 21 May 2005 at 2pm
Little Baddow Cricket Club Lost 177 runs
Less said about this game the better! A much weakened 2nd XI were forced to play the first 90 mins with only ten men due to a lack availability of players this weekend. Although winning the toss, the tactical ploy of hoping the weather would come to our aid and limit the batting side's overs failed completely. Although a brief shower occured just before the scheduled start time, that was it for the afternoon as the visitors simply bludgeoned the homeside bowlers all afternnon. At one time it looked as though OC's were going to score 400!The wind didn't make bowling conditions easy but the quality of Lt Baddow fielding didn't help matters. Only young Declan Cole left the field with any credit.
The visitors total was never in any danger and indeed they opened there bowling stint with two spinners. Apart from David Blaydes third run out in a row, the only highlights were a fine 70 runs from Mr Williamson who remained unbeaten from the start and the stern defence put up by Declan Cole at the end. Hopefully this heavy defeat will be a rarity!
