Little Baddow Cricket Club Sunday NECL XI v Wormingford on Sat 30 Apr 2005 at 1pm
Little Baddow Cricket Club Won 4 wickets
Our first ever game in the PDQ North Essex League, with 6 colts and 5 adults taking the field.
Wormingford made a steady start, putting on 65 for the first wicket before James Stevens picked up his first wicket in a league game for the club. Wickets then fell steadily, with excellent bowling performances from all of the youngsters, notably Chris Harmer with 3 wickets and Jamie O'Dell with 4 wickets. The last wicket fell on the last ball of the 45th over with the visitors posting a total of 198.
The Little Baddow innings started with 2 of the older players, to show the youngsters how to build an innings, but a misunderstanding led to the the early demise of Nigel O'Dell to a run out. Two more wickets fell to leave us at 41 for 3, but then Andy Harris and Steve Harmer steadied the innings. Steve fell for 42, but Andy saw us home with a magnificent 110 not out, aided by some lusty blows (sorry, cultured off-side shots!) from Charlie Julian.
A winning start with more than 3 overs to spare.
